Power Operated Segment Mandrel for Flexibility
September 1, 2016
Designed for internal clamping, the ABSIS power-operated segment mandrel from RÖHM provides stability, flexibility and quick-change capabilities for high-precision part production, whether it is applied in turning, milling, grinding or tooth-cutting operations.
Featuring a solid, compact design with hardened, wear-resistant components, ABSIS includes an adapter, ejector ring and locking belt for power-assisted operation. It also comes with a flanged seat, workpiece stop and vulcanized clamping sleeves that help to protect against chip and dirt contamination. Sleeves can be guided on the mandrel with accuracy, while a central tension screw allows for sleeve changeouts.
ABSIS provides steady clamping by allowing workpieces to be drawn-in against the rigid workstop independently of mandrel operation. It also offers a radial run-out accuracy of 0.01 mm due to the vibration damping provided by the rubber portion of the clamping sleeve.
ABSIS is adaptable to DURO-NC lathe chucks employing quick-change systems and features a fast and simple installation or conversion. Prepared for air sensing, the product is available in five basic mandrels covering a clamping diameter range of 20 to 106 mm.
