Chuck Clamping Force Gauge
September 1, 2016
RÖHM Products of America offers a chuck clamping force gauge as a part of its F-senso line of measurement systems. The device measures the clamping force and rotational speed of two- and three-jaw chucks, helping to simplify regular maintenance checks and ensure continuous machining accuracy.
The F-senso clamping force gauge determines the retention force of a chuck in a range of machining scenarios, from practical solid workpiece applications requiring strong holding power to sensitive, thin-walled components that could easily deform if clamped too hard.
Through interchangeable pressure pins, the gauge can accommodate clamping ranges between 3" and 7" in diameter (75 and 175 mm). It measures up to 22,480 lbs. of force (100 kN) per chuck jaw and rotational speeds up to 8,250 RPM. Additionally, the gauge can switch from two to three clamping points in seconds.
Operation of the F-senso clamping force gauge, which includes automatic switch-off, is quick as it clamps in the chuck with no additional attachments required. The supplied insert aid allows for positioning of the gauge within the chuck.
Through Bluetooth technology, the gauge wirelessly transmits the measured values in real time to its accompanying tablet PC that comes pre-installed with measuring and analysis software.
The F-senso clamping force gauge and its complementary components come with a hard-shell case, which is designed to protect everything from damage and make for easy transport.
In addition to the chuck clamping force gauge, the F-senso line consists of spindle pull-in force measuring devices that easily monitor and detect changes in machine tool clamping systems before they impact part quality.
