The Megamat RS Vertical Carousel series can now accommodate unit loads from light, medium to heavy duty. Vertical carousel technology operates on the "goods to person" principle, consisting of a series of shelves or carriers that rotate around in a vertical motion, similar to a ferris wheel. To meet increasing demands, Kardex Remstar has expanded the Megamat RS Vertical Carousel product line to include a heavy duty Megamat RS 650 model and light duty Megamat RS 180 model. With three models now available, the Megamat RS Vertical Carousel offers a wider range of weight capacity, improved efficiencies and provided greater flexibility to meet the needs of all applications, according to the company.
The original Megamat Vertical Carousel was recently redesigned into the Megamat RS 350. The Megamat RS 350 vertical carousel is designed to provide reduced lifecycle costs, an improved structure, interchangeable carriers and multiple control options. The company reported that with design and technology improvements, the Megamat RS vertical carousel maintains the key objectives of vertical carousel technology by increasing productivity by 2/3 and reducing floor space requirements by 75% when compared to manual storage systems.
With an increased demand for heavy duty storage, Kardex Remstar introduced the Megamat RS 650 with the load capacity per carrier at 1,433 lbs. (41,887 lbs. max. per unit), almost double the 350 series. The Megamat RS 650 may be used for heavy duty applications such as tooling and heavy machinery, offering quick, easy and ergonomic access to stored goods.
Kardex Remstar has also added a light duty model carousel, the Megamat RS 180. Managing payload ranges up to 396 lbs. per carrier (13,260 lbs. max. per unit), the Megamat RS 180 Vertical Carousel is designed for small parts storage, buffer storage, small tools, components and spare parts.
"Designed to automatically deliver stored items to an operator at an ergonomically positioned pick window via the shortest path, the RS series can increase productivity and recover up to 75% of previously used floor space," said a company spokesperson.
