Belts Bring Benefits of Precision-Shaped Grain to Low-to-Medium Pressure Applications

3M Cubitron II Abrasive Belts 947A are designed for low to medium pressure applications. "With a flexible X-weight poly cotton backing, these new belts help turbocharge offhand grinding operations, making them ideal for use in applications using backstand, file belt, inline and stroke sanders," said a company spokesperson.

Cubitron II Abrasive Belts 947A include a grinding aid, and may be used on tool steel, stainless steel, carbon steel and heat-sensitive metals. According to the company, 3M's precision-shaped grain technology helps these belts perform with less pressure needed and less heat generated, while still delivering a consistent finish due to the belt's flexibility.

"The precision-shaped grain used in the complete line of Cubitron II products is a 3M invention that enables the abrasive to slice through metal," said the spokesperson. "As the triangular shaped grain wears, it continuously fractures to form sharp points and edges that wear evenly and provide long life and consistency at any grinding pressure."
