Expanded Insert Offering for Stainless Steel and High-Temp Alloys
May 1, 2015
American National Carbide (ANC) has announced the addition of several new styles of its Synergy line of indexable carbide inserts for machining stainless steel and high-temperature alloys such as Inconel. Trigon (WNMG) and 55° diamond (DNMG) shaped inserts have been added to the line in a variety of sizes to complement the existing 80° diamond (CNMG) offering. Finishing, general purpose and roughing chip controls are available in all of these styles.
"We had real success during initial testing of the Synergy inserts and decided it was time to expand the offering to other shapes and sizes," said a company spokesperson. "Two unique grades, employing PVD nano-coating technology and a hard, micro-grain substrate, are engineered to perform at the elevated temperatures experienced during difficult machining. Coupled with advanced chip control geometries and a proprietary post-coating treatment aimed at reducing cutting forces, the combination allows high-speed machining of stainless steel and high-temp alloys with double-digit increases in productivity over traditional grades."
