Selective Laser Sintering at Midwest Prototyping
May 1, 2015
Midwest Prototyping has announced the addition of the EOS P760 machine to its additive manufacturing capabilities. According to the company, the new machine allows for large frame selective laser sintering (SLS) of polyamide (nylon) powder and nearly doubles the overall SLS production capacity of Midwest Prototyping. With a production chamber of 27" by 15" by 22", the P760 also features an advanced material loading system, as well as a specialized break-out platform for product recovery. Midwest Prototyping employees underwent a week of specialized training to become familiar with the new machine and its operating protocols. In addition to the large frame product capability, the machine will also allow for increased volume of multiple-part orders overall.
"We added the EOS for the continued growth of our prototyping services. More and more often we have found ourselves using laser sintering to fulfill our clients' niche manufacturing needs," said Steve Grundahl, President. "We have been making a lot of real world production parts with these machines, enabling business models and specialized markets normally not economically feasible with traditional, tooling-based manufacturing."
Founded in 2001 by company president Steve Grundahl, Midwest Prototyping provides prototyping and custom manufacturing services. The additive manufacturer offers SLA, SLS, cast urethane, CNC machining and post-process finishing.
