Software for Moldmaking from Quotation to Delivery



"ZW3D Mold module, streamlining every step of the mold design process from quotation to the finished product, helps moldmakers maintain high standards of quality with greatly shortened delivery times and lowered costs," said a company spokesperson.

Being the initial step to evaluate return on investment (ROI), quotation is a problem for moldmakers with low efficiency of data translation and repair. For conversion of data, ZW3D offers powerful file translator to cooperate seamlessly with various mainstream CAD platforms, either 2D or 3D platforms. ZW3D can simplify data repair with Solid-Surface Hybrid Modeling technology, which supports accurate estimates of imported non-perfect models.

Mold design involves model repairing, core and cavity splitting, mold base design and electrode design etc. In ZW3D, according to the company, a host of embedded mold capabilities can benefit designers in the following aspects:

  • Dispensable Repairing Process due to the Solid-Surface Hybrid Modeling technology, making surfacing operations feasible on solids and solid operations viable on surfaces in a complete hybrid environment, engineers can skip model healing process and jump directly to split non-solid models in ZW3D.
  • Faster Core & Cavity Splitting of the most complex parts with parting lines or the core-cavity region definition method helps designers improve work efficiency.
  • Extendable MoldBase and Standard Parts are engineered to improve the mold design process, standardization is the key to eliminated human errors and reduced cost, which can be realized in ZW3D with built-in MoldBase and customizable standards parts. Time can be saved with automated design of the mold base assembly (e.g. DME, Futaba, LKM) and user-defined mechanisms (e.g. sliders, pillars, lifters) from designer's own library.
  • Electrode Design & 2D Document, electrode extract tools in ZW3D allows engineers to deal with electrodes, which can be machined with user-defined CAM templates. Moreover, ZW3D can also generate 2D sheets of electrode in batches automatically to reduce development time.
