Lathes Designed for Large, Heavy-Duty Workpieces

TUR-built HD lathes by FAT-Haco, a European provider of medium and large long bed lathes, has expanded its line in SUPER Class Turning centers. The new TUR-4MN turning centers are European-manufactured CNC combination turning centers designed for large heavy-duty applications. Like the 24"-61" swing TUR sold in the USA for over 35 years with Toolmex, users can choose the latest Siemens or FANUC CNC control systems with conversational programming packages. "This makes them ideal as a production unit for manufacturing high precision, complicated parts for one-offs or in small to medium lot runs," said a company spokesperson.

The new full line of TUR-4MN heavy-duty horizontal lathes are available to process workpieces requiring:

  • 27"-118" diameter
  • x78"-1,000" BC
  • 50-300 HP (continuous power)
  • 20,000 - 200,000 lbs. BC
  • 2-5 axes.

"The TUR factory continues to manufacture lathes strictly to customers' needs," said the spokesperson. "The key is the factory's flexibility with emphasis on design, manufacture and support. FAT is capable of producing almost 80 percent of key components in-house."

"The trend in the market is that customers are looking for solutions which will replace several machines, lower cost and boost productivity," said FAT Director of Sales, Mr. Ostrowski. "Our independence from suppliers means that we can create a product almost entirely from start to finish, according to client's needs, as well as guaranteeing reliability and high-quality after-sale service."

"Another key area FAT has been actively pursuing has been brand awareness for its TUR lathes," said the spokesperson. "Regularly showcasing products at major global tradeshows throughout the world has been a focus for the company. TUR Lathes have been put to use in virtually every major industrial sector including energy, hydraulics, marine, aerospace, steel and the oil and gas industries."

The FAT-TUR factory is part of the Belgian HACO Group, with TUR production occurring in Poland. FAT has more than 60 years of experience in lathe construction.
