Box-Way machines use 8,000 RPM belt-drive spindles as shown here.
The VFM series of vertical milling machines offered by Ganesh are designed with heavy casting and rigid construction. They are equipped with linear-roller ways or box ways.
Ganesh cross-roller guideways are positively registered against the casting, then anchored in place using tapered wedge clamps. "Cross-roller guided ways give our customers high accuracy, rigidity and load capacity in all directions, as well as excellent crash safety and increased operating life," said a company spokesperson. In Ganesh machines, wide spacing between guideways is designed to provide good stability.
According to the company, the VFM-6327 has four cross-roller ways in the Y-axis. On this machine, oil lubrication uses premium copper plumbing and flexible steel tubing. 12,000 RPM direct-drive spindles are standard for cross-roller linear way machines. "Spindle coolant shower nozzles are also standard on every machine," said the spokesperson. The VFM-6327B has four box ways in the Y-axis.
All Ganesh VFM machines are built with the BIG-PLUS precision ground dual-contact spindle that is designed to provide the following advantages:
- Increased tool rigidity
- Reduced tool runout
- Increased tool life
- Increased cutting capacity
- Superior tool length repeatability due to positive face contact.
"Operators can use standard tools for general work and BIG-PLUS toolholders in demanding applications," said the spokesperson.
The following are also standard on Ganesh VFM machines:
- Refrigerated spindle chiller
- 300-PSI coolant pump
- High pressure coolant inlet filter
- Coolant oil skimmer and separator
- Coolant nozzle and air gun
- Swing-arm style tool changer.
"Every machine is prewired for a conveyor," said the spokesperson. "A chip conveyor can easily be added by removing a chip pan and installing a cover plate."
Box way construction is available in 40 and 50 Tapers.
"Each Ganesh VFM machine utilizes a high-performance Mitsubishi M720 CNC control," said the spokesperson. "This includes a 15-inch LCD monitor, Ethernet, RS-232, USB and CF ports and a remote MPG handwheel."
According to the company, the Mitsubishi control offers the following advantages:
- Advanced 64-bit control with RISC CPU processor
- 135,000 blocks processed per minute with 680-block look-ahead
- NANO control with Super-Smooth Surface finish generator
- 4 GB high-speed data server and auto power-off
- 20 GB hard drive for extensive program storage
- Tool-life management by tool time in cut or number of workpieces
- On-the-fly program editing of an active program
- Advanced Macro programming w/if/then looping, program branches
- Three-year Mitsubishi control and drives warranty
- Complete full-function control with all features.
In addition, FANUC 0iMD control with handwheel is optional on every machine.
