Two New Lathe Series Offer Precision, Versatility

Summit Machine Tool Manufacturing LLC has added two new lines of lathes: SVS Series Variable Speed Manual Lathes and SCS Series CNC Lathes. Both series offer precision cutting for smaller swings and versatility for machining both small and large workpieces. "Manufactured in Europe, these new Summit variable speed lathes are known for consistent performance and are built to last," said a company spokesperson.

SVS Series

"Summit's SVS Series Variable Speed Manual Lathes are designed for accuracy, precision and reliability. The SVS Series is available from stock in three sizes: 16 x 40, 20 x 60 and 26 x 80. For versatility and maximum production on every job, each model in Summit's SVS Series has variable spindle speeds and a large hole through the spindle," said the spokesperson.

According to the company, standard on every SVS Series lathe is a quick-change gearbox for cutting standard American and metric threads, hardened and precision ground bedways and an automatic lubrication system. Accessories include a 3-jaw chuck, steady rest, follow rest and full-length splash guard.

SCS Series

"The SCS Series CNC Lathes are rugged and dependable, with the precision needed for demanding work applications," said the spokesperson. "They combine the precision of CNC controls with the ease of operation of a manual lathe to provide maximum convenience and economy. The SCS Series CNC Lathes are designed for shops evolving from manual lathe operations and are perfect for users who want a simple and easy-to-use machine. Fagor 8055 or Siemens 808D CNC controls provide either ISO G-Code or conversational language with on-screen menus and prompts that make programming virtually foolproof."

Summit's SCS Series CNC Lathes come with many standard features including hardened and precision ground bedways, electric handwheels for manual operation, full CNC operation and automatic gear range selection. Accessories included with the SCS Series CNC Lathes are 3-jaw chucks, steady rest, follow rest and manual quick change tool post with five holders or an automatic 8-position turret.
