The Festo Didactic Center for Workforce Technology Education opened a learning laboratory in Eatontown, NJ, aimed at providing a high-tech level of training for manufacturing jobs.
Tim Lizura, President and Chief Operating Officer of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, and other dignitaries were present for the cutting of the ceremonial red ribbon on November 24 at the newly renovated facility. The event also included expert presentations throughout the day in areas of apprenticeship, technical training and ongoing education.
According to the company, Festo officials are taking advantage of a "Grow New Jersey" grant for the development of this state-of-the-art learning laboratory, bringing in new jobs and opportunities.
"Festo, which employs 17,000 people across the world, is known internationally as a job multiplier. Through its training modules, Festo Didactic nurtures the next generation of well-trained employees who can secure good-paying jobs in the fast-paced evolution of the manufacturing sector," said a company spokesperson.
"Festo Diadactic has a focus on providing the tools and curriculum needed for superior technical training. The new learning laboratory has hardware and associated book or electronic training products that give hands-on training in safety, milling, lathe, CNC machining, PLC control systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, process control and robotics. It also has adaptable simulations that allow for the partial or full replication of processes and hardware for learning the art of troubleshooting and general operation without interfering with operational production lines," said the spokesperson.
