Haas Toolroom Lathe Redesigned

The Haas TL-1 Toolroom Lathe has undergone a complete redesign, with a new enclosure and higher overall performance.

"Since its introduction in 2003, the TL-1 Toolroom Lathe has been a popular machine for start-up shops, schools and manual shops transitioning to CNC. It is affordable, easy to use and offers the precision control of the Haas CNC system. Equipped with the Haas Intuitive Programming System, the TL-1 is easy to learn and operate - even without knowing G-code - and manual machinists will transition quickly and easily into full CNC," said a company spokesperson.

The redesigned TL-1 Toolroom Lathe has a maximum capacity of 16" x 30", with a 16" swing over the front apron. The A2-6 spindle nose has a 3" bore and accepts either an 8" or 10" optional 3-jaw manual chuck. The spindle is powered by a 12 HP vector drive system and now spins to 3,000 RPM. Rapids have increased to 450 IPM on both X- and Z-axes and an optional manual tailstock is available for additional part support. Designed to better contain chips and coolant and protect the operator, a chip enclosure is now standard on the TL-1.

According to the company, the TL-1 comes equipped with Haas Automation's Intuitive Programming System - a proprietary conversational operating system designed to make cutting parts and creating part programs simpler. Through an interactive graphical environment, the control guides the operator through the steps necessary to machine a part. "Operations that would be difficult or even impossible on a manual machine, such as compound angles, radii, tapers, profiles, ID and OD threading and rigid tapping, are all possible on the TL-1 - without knowledge of G-code programming," said the spokesperson.
