Indexable Drill Head
August 1, 2014
Ingersoll offers a new fixed pocket, indexable BTA drill head. The new TBTA-H series heads range in diameter from .984" - 2.559" (25 mm - 65 mm) and are designed to provide higher accuracy, improved straightness, better surface finish and longer tool life compared to the TBTA-C and TBTA-D series heads, according to the company.
"An 'H' class, peripheral ground insert mounted in the outboard station provides 50% tighter hole variation, providing IT10 accuracy (.0028 inch total tolerance) as well as higher speed and feed capability," said a company spokesperson. "Wider chip mouth for maximum chip evacuation clearance allows smooth delivery of coolant to the cutting edge and assures sufficient cooling for the guide pads."
