Compact Pump/Skimmer Features Magnetic Frame
August 1, 2014
The Keller TKO-6 compact pump/skimmer for individual machine tool sumps can now be quickly mounted off of the shop floor and on the machine tool using the new CLO-1 magnetic frame, a major benefit for space-conscious shops.
TKO pump/skimmers remove tramp oil and suspended solids from the coolant and aerate the coolant by continuous recirculation at high flow rate, utilizing a high flow rate 1/2" air operated diaphragm pump.
"To set up a TKO separator on the CLO-1 frame, users simply position the magnetic frame on the machine tool - no hardware required - and place the TKO separator in the frame," said a company spokesperson. "Then, connect a 1/4-inch compressed air line (no electricals), an inlet hose and an outlet hose (provided). Set-up time is approximately five minutes."
A TKO skimmer pumps oily coolant from the surface of the sump, separates the chips and tramp oil, and continuously recirculates the cleaned coolant at 180 gallons per hour. The high recirculation rate turns over a sump rapidly. For example, a 90 gallon sump will be turned over twice per hour - aerating the coolant and ensuring that there are no stagnant areas of the sump in which oil and solids can accumulate. The separator may be run when the machine tool is operating or idle.
"The ATKO separator contains the patented Keller permanent coalescing oil separator element that never needs to be serviced or changed, and a compact floating inlet device that compensates automatically for changes in the coolant level in the sump," said the spokesperson. "The only operator attention required is to drain the collected tramp oil by opening the oil drain valve briefly once per day."
