Big Bore Chucker, Heavy-Duty Slant Bed Lathe
August 1, 2014
Kingston Machine Tool will introduce its big bore chucker and SPX heavy-duty slant bed lathe. Kingston will also feature its CL 38 Series and the HR and HD engine lathe models.
Kingston's CHUCKER 14 with 14.5" bore is designed to provide high loading capacity, extreme rigidity and the powerful cutting capability needed for large and heavy workpieces. Stability is made possible by the heavily ribbed one-piece casting, 28" two V way bed and box way cross slide and carriage. The 40/50 HP main motor is coupled with a four-speed headstock for maximum torque, while a 5.5 HP and 9.5 HP AC servo motor drives the X- and Z-axis. Standard features include H6 350 turret with 3" boring bar holder, A2-20 spindle nose, rear chuck adapter and FANUC 0i- TD controller with Manual Guide i and a threading repair function.
Kingston's new SPX heavy-duty slant bed lathe features a 9.25" bore, 35.4" swing, 45° slant and lengths from 60" to 160". The one-piece bed and box way castings are heavily ribbed and made of a fine grain wear resistant Meehanite that is heat treated, annealed twice and ground to attain the stability and hardness of HRC53. Each sliding surface is further coated with Turcite-B for optimal performance, even under heavy loading and cutting conditions, according to the company.
The SPX is equipped with a specially designed 12-position bi-directional servo turret with a two-piece large diameter Hirth-type coupling designed to provide strong clamping force and high loading capacity with precise positioning. The bi-directional turret has a 0.3 second indexing time. Both the tailstock body and MT#6 quill are fully programmable. Standard features include 50 HP (cont.)/60 HP (30 min.) spindle motor, FANUC 0iTD with Manual Guide I and threading repair and 10.4" LCD monitor. Options include C-axis and live tooling turret.
