Kitamura Machinery will debut its Mytrunnion-4G full 5-axis simultaneous vertical machining center (VMC) at IMTS 2014. According to the company, the new machining center will give attendees a compact, high precision machining option for more complex, intricate applications.
The Mytrunnion-4G has been designed specifically for manufacturers and job shops that require higher levels of flexibility and versatility in the materials that they machine. It is designed to provide enhanced tool life, high level accuracies of +/-0.00079" and repeatability of +/-0.000039".
Designed for high precision machining of medium to small parts, the Mytrunnion-4G offers a maximum work size of ±19.7 x 15.7" high and a table load capacity of 440 lbs. to more productively process parts in a single set-up. Featuring simultaneous 5-axis capability, the Mytrunnion-4G incorporates an A-axis tilting trunnion table (-120 to +30) and a rotary C-axis (360) with a 0.001 minimum indexing command. The trunnion design allows for enhanced stiffness and flexibility with the ability to position the workpiece closer to the spindle.
Standard is a #40 taper, 15,000 RPM spindle designed to produce an enhanced output range under a variety of cutting conditions, allowing for a greater range of applications on a variety of materials (titanium, aluminum, steel). According to the company, the 20 HP/AC spindle motor with a direct drive, dual contact spindle system offers the benefits of greater machining rigidity, reduced vibration and fine finish capabilities.
The Mytrunnion-4G has a standard 50-tool high speed ATC (HSK-A63 is an available option) located toward the rear of the machine allowing for the economical machining of more complex parts and, in general, multiple jobs or small short run part lots. Tool handling is minimized and efficiency is increased using Kitamura's exclusive fixed pot ATC system. In this system, each tool is always returned to the same tool pot; the next tool to be used is kept ready in a stand-by tool pot, minimizing tool change time.
Kitamura's Arumatik control is designed to promote fast, smooth control processing for faster machining of complex workpieces. "The ability to customize the control to the customer's application is what makes this CNC controller stand on its own," said Ted Asano, VP at Kitamura Machinery. "The performance and ease of use of the Arumatik control is focused on advanced technologies and operator convenience. Coupled with Kitamura's support, this control is unique in that is offers the operator more practical communication and visual work setting methods."
