The Absolute Machine Tools booth at IMTS will feature the Nexturn Swiss lathes, Tongtai simple lathe for small part production and the Precihole Micro gundrilling machine.
Nexturn SA32XII Swiss lathe
The Nexturn SA32XII Swiss lathe, a new 32 mm machine that is available with or without a rotary synchronous guide bushing, can be seen in action in Absolute Machine Tool's booth. It features up to nine total axes (Z1, X1, Y1, Z2, X2, Y2, C1, C2 and optional B) and up to 33 total tools with the B-axis (29 without), including 19 live tools. Machining capacity is 32 mm on the main spindle, 32 mm on the sub spindle and 210 mm (8") maximum turning length in one chucking (60 mm or 2.36" without guide bushing).
The machine is built for accuracy and ease of use. The rigid one-piece cast iron machine bed is designed using FEM software. Powerful motors for both turning and milling help provide enhanced machining capability. The use of ultra-precision pre-tensioned ballscrews and LM guides helps produce high accuracy. High speed positioning of 1,260 in/min reduces cycle times. A sliding operator door, as opposed to a lift up style door, provides easy access to the machining area and is drip free.
The main spindle is a 10 HP, 8,000 RPM built-in motor spindle. The built-in motor provides enhanced acceleration / deceleration. The full C-axis on both main and sub spindles with .001° position and pneumatic disc brake clamping provide rigidity for milling operation. The synchronous sub spindle allows simultaneous front and back working to be performed.
Live tools provide milling capability. With 1.3 HP and 6,000 RPM, a wide range of milling, drilling and tapping can be performed. ER-16 collets (ER-11 for back tools on the optional B-axis) for the live tools provide enhanced rigidity. Rigid tapping is standard. The optional B-axis, used primarily for milling, drilling and tapping angled holes, provides 0 - 135° of swiveling rotation with three front side and three back side live tools. The front side tools can be used for both front and face work, doubling the useful tools to six possible.
The synchronous rotary guide bushing features a dual bearing structure with high accuracy and bearing support on both ends. The guide bushing is spline shaft driven. The guide bushing is necessary for precision machining of long parts. The machine can be ordered without the guide for short parts, reduced remnant length and the ability to run cold drawn material.
Nexturn uses quality components such as: FANUC controls, motors and drives (Japan); NSK ballscrews and THK linear motion guideways (Japan); NSK and FAG bearings (Japan and Germany); KHK gears (Japan); Mayr couplings (Germany); CKD pneumatic valves (Japan); SMC pneumatic cylinders (Japan) and Daikin hydraulic systems (Japan).
Simple Q5 CNC Lathe from Tongtai for small-part production
Absolute Machine Tools will display the new Tongtai Q5 CNC gang-type lathe, a compact, simple machine engineered specifically for fast production of small parts. The machine at IMTS will be equipped with an automatic bar feeder.
The Q5 features a 6,000 RPM (optional 8,000 RPM), 7.5 HP (5.6 kW) spindle motor and offers a rapid traverse rate of 1,181 IPM. The compact machine has a 5' x 6' 3" (1,490 mm x 1,870 mm) footprint, and with straightforward gang tooling and no subspindle it is equipped for speed. Tool capacity, depending on the workpiece being processed, is 4-6 ID or OD tools.
Optional automation systems further increase the machine's productivity. A simple, easy-to-operate solution combines a bar feeder, part catcher, and part conveyor. Through-spindle bar capacity is 1" (25 mm) dia. For longer-term, higher-volume automated production, 8-pallet or 2-pallet gantry-loader-type part stockers are offered to handle parts up to 2" (50 mm) in diameter and 1.5" (38 mm) in length.
New Micro Drilling solution for the medical industry from Precihole Machine Tools
In the Absolute Machine Tools booth, Precihole Machine Tools Pvt. Ltd. will display a new deep hole drilling machine with capabilities engineered to facilitate production of precision medical implants. Absolute is the exclusive North American distributor for Precihole's complete line of deep hole drilling and hole finishing Solutions.
Gundrilling produces straight, accurate deep holes and is the preferred method of making holes with L/D ratios of 10 or more in medical implants including cannulated (having through-holes for fluid or wire) intramedullary devices such as nails and screws as well as cannulated drills and other instruments.
Precihole will show its Micro gundrilling machine, which employs drill diameters from 1 mm (0.04") to 6 mm (0.25") to produce holes to a depth of 300 mm (12") in components up to 40 mm (1.5") OD. Two 1.1 kW (1.5 HP) spindles operate at speeds from 1,000 to 25,000 RPM at feed rates ranging from 0-1,000 mm/min (0 - 40" /min). The Micro machine's component counter-rotation capability ensures straightness. A selection of features and options includes tool wear and breakage monitoring and multiple tool steadies.
All of the Precihole gundrilling machines provide the benefits of linear motion guideways, high-pressure recirculating coolant systems, centralized automatic lubrication and full machine guarding. A full range of tools and accessories includes gun drills, guide bushes, whip guides and cone locators, as well as tool presetting and regrinding machines.
