Yama Seiki-Goodway will feature its GV-1 series vertical turning centers and SW series Swiss-type turning centers.
The Yama Seiki-Goodway GV-1 series vertical turning centers are designed to provide enhanced power, construction and heavy-duty cutting capabilities. The GV-1 series includes two different models with live turret: GV-1200M and GV-1600M. With GV-1200M and GV-1600M's maximum turning diameter up to 1,350 mm and 1,800 mm, maximum weight load up to 5,000 kg and 8,000 kg, and available live tooling spindle and CF-axis capabilities, turning, milling, contour milling and drilling applications may be completed in one single machine.
"The Yama Seiki-Goodway GV-1 series features heavily ribbed, thermally balanced, high-rigidity bed and column of Meehanite casting," said a company spokesperson. "It is capable of withstanding much greater stress without deforming, and it provides maximum vibration dampening. By using Finite Element Methods (FEM), optimal reinforced ribbings are directly cast into the bed and column structure. Mechanical rigidity has been increased by more than 30% when compared to conventional designs. The GV-1 series is capable of performing super heavy-duty turning and maintaining long-term high-precision accuracy. More rigidity also means extended tool life. The contact surfaces of all slides, spindles and ball screw bearing housings with the machine bed are precision hand scraped to provide maximum assembly precision, structural rigidity and load distribution."
The crossrail is mounted with four sets of up/down positioning mechanisms providing strong locking-positioning at each point, which strengthens the overall rigidity of the crossrail and tooling spindle. The crossrail is designed with box-shaped structure to help prevent thermal displacement and help ensure machine stability during turning operations. W-axis travel is up to 800 mm for better machining flexibility. Pretension on all ground ball screws with extra wide ground box ways provide increased rigidity for heavy-duty cutting. The crossrail can be moved up and down as desired while the column is adopted with the high-low box way design to support the crossrail and minimize structural distortion.
Instead of using partial belts, Yama Seiki-Goodway's GV-1200M and 1600M series use all gears to connect the spindle motor and work table. The standard high-speed ratio, high-torque 2-speed gear box mated with a 40/6,000i series spindle motor provides more output for heavy-duty cutting. "The optional CF-axis and disk brake system available on the GV-1 series provide the most rigid type of C-axis on the market today," said the spokesperson. "It features a worm gear drive system for high accuracy transmission and easy backlash adjustment. The indexing accuracy is up to 0.001°." Working with the live tooling turret, the CF-axis and disk brake system enable the machine to perform multiple tasks, such as drilling, tapping and milling operations, including cylindrical and polar coordinate interpolations.
Yama Seiki-Goodway SW Series
"Yama Seiki has introduced its new maximum performance Swiss-type turning centers with leading technology and high quality components," said a Yama Seiki spokesperson. "The Yama Seiki-Goodway SW machines provide the best solution for workpieces with diameters smaller than 42 mm." Machines in the SW series include the SW-20 (20 mm max. machining diameter), the SW-32 (32 mm max. machining diameter) and the SW-42 (42 mm max. machining diameter). Additionally, the SW series machines are available with a sub-spindle, live tooling and a bar feeder.
"The Yama Seiki-Goodway SW series offers more flexible operations such as turning, milling and cross drilling," said the spokesperson. "With a different combination of power systems, main-spindle, sub-spindle, front-end tooling, rear-end tooling, C-axis and live tools, the workpiece can be finished on the machine - and this also allows two operations to be machined simultaneously."
The SW series features modular spindle construction. The spindle can be exchanged for bush-type or bushless-type depending on different work requirements. The bushless design is suitable for machining cold-forged bar; the remaining bar can be less than 50 mm to save material cost. The bush-type can be rotated with high speed for less surface damage and increased working performance.
Fully enclosed splashguards keep chips and coolant contained for a safe, clean working environment. "All spindle and servo motors are FANUC high performance components to ensure peak machining performance and accuracy," said the spokesperson. "C3 class hardened and precision ground ball screws ensure high accuracy and durability. Plus, pretension on all axes minimizes thermal distortion."
Automatic lubrication is provided to all slide ways, ball screws and vital components. Maintenance-free piston distributors deliver a precise quantity of oil to each lubrication point. Distribution is automatically shut off during idling to prevent waste. The piston distributors are non-clogging and the design allows way lube consumption to be minimized.
An optional A/C unit is available to control the temperature and humidity inside the electrical cabinet. This helps to extend the life of electrical components.
"The Yama Seiki-Goodway SW series are rigid, fast moving and available with fully loaded tooling. The features of this series of machines provide high production performance," said the spokesperson.
