New products ranging from the latest in high performance coated carbide inserts to extendable deep reach toolholders and spiral flute inserts for threading, grooving and chamfering are among the latest advances in thread cutting that will be featured in the Carmex booth at IMTS. Also prominent will be the Carmex Applications Station where customers can discuss their individual thread cutting needs with applications engineers.
"Over the past two years, we have introduced a significant number of new products in response to the changing demands of our customers," said Jeff Dei, President of Carmex USA. "We continue to add to our line of high-precision tools for Swiss-style machining and have augmented our Tiny Tools line for small-sized, high-value parts. These products have been well received by customers in the medical field, in communications and in aerospace, among others.
"Our BLU inserts have proven extremely successful in permitting customers to achieve higher production, reduced cycle times and longer tool life in ultra-hard materials. BLU has increased the thermal barrier to 4,200 °F and, in actual tests, has delivered 30% more parts at 30% higher speeds. Our new HBA grade was developed for superior performance in such super alloys as Hastelloy, Inconel, and nickel base alloys."
Carmex has also been active in the development of tooling for specialized applications. The recently introduced CMT vertical milling inserts feature a multiflute design with four to eight cutting edges, spiral flute for low cutting forces and better surface finish, a higher removal rate and the capability of greater production through increased feeds. The new CMT is available in configurations for threading, grooving and chamfering.
As deep-hole drilling and threading has become more common, Carmex has responded with a line of Deep Reach toolholders designed to provide vibration-free performance with minimal run-out due to heavy-duty construction. Modular components in a variety of sizes are available for multiple hole depths, and enhanced coolant delivery is facilitated with a user friendly coupling.
A prominent part of the Carmex exhibit is the Applications Station where customers and visitors can bring their individual applications questions for discussion with Carmex professionals. Billy Heck, Carmex Applications Engineer, said, "By combining our applications knowledge with the extensive display of Carmex products, we can define what tooling best fits the customers' needs and let them see it first-hand. By encouraging interactive involvement, we can deliver a more effective show experience to attendees than they could achieve with a simple exhibit."
