TC64-RG Roughness Gauge
August 1, 2014
Blum-Novotest, Inc. will introduce its new TC64-RG roughness gauge to the North American market at IMTS.
The TC64-RG was developed to meet the needs of manufacturers wanting to check part surface finish before removing the part from their CNC machining center. With a stylus and the gauge's integrated Digilog-technology, a technology that allows analogue scanning of the part, the gauge can accurately determine a part's surface roughness with the part in its original orientation, thereby eliminating resetting of the part. Surface data is recorded from the scan and transmitted wirelessly to Blum's interface, which then compares the data to recorded data of a part with optimal surface finish. Any spike in the data can be set to alert the operator automatically.
This provides a means of integrated process control for manufacturers who must hold a specified grade of surface finish. "Previously, there was no real automated method of checking surface finish on the machining center," said a company spokesperson. "Now with the TC64-RG, the operator will be able to correct the issue before the process gets out of control."
Daily seminars and demonstrations of the TC64-RG will be held at IMTS.
