In-House Powder Coating

Argon Industries, Inc. has installed a $1.5 million powder coat system in conjunction with moving its two operations into one 128,000 sq. ft. facility in Milwaukee.

"We have made two significant investments for Argon Industries. One, acquiring a 128,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility on the northwest side of Milwaukee, bringing all operations under one roof and second, expanding our business services by installing a powder coat paint line. These investments signal our commitment to be the best sheet metal fabricator in Wisconsin," said Gregory Clement, President/Owner of Argon Industries.

According to the company, Argon's powder coat system can powder coat a wide range of products with sizes up to 4 ft. wide x 7 ft. high and 10 ft. long. Features include an eight stage spray wash system featuring stage one removal of laser scale, Alkaline cleaning, and APT (Advanced Pretreatment Technology). APT is a pretreatment technology that is phosphate free and Eco-Friendly designed to meet or exceed the performance of iron and zinc-phosphate surface treatments.

"Argon installed high efficiency manual quick change booths, providing color changes in less than 2 minutes and eliminating expensive set up charges. In addition, Argon installed an automated 12 gun powder booth for high volume runs. Both booths are housed in an environmentally controlled room for heat and humidity, ensuring consistent application and quality of the powder coated products. The fully conveyorized system is solid with a 250 lbs. load capacity per hook," said a company spokesperson.

According to the company, an independent firm has tested and qualified that Argon Industries' powder coat system exceeded the stringent GM9540P standard. In addition, UL (Underwriters Laboratories) has certified the Powder Coat System.

"Our new facility, and the addition of an in-house powder coat system, are blessings for Argon and give us the ability to increase our service to our current customers and to support new customers. While immediately creating 12 jobs for the Powder Coat operations and the goal of over 70 jobs in the next two years," said Mr. Clement.

Argon Industries is a contract manufacturer of light to medium sheet metal components and assemblies, using technologies in laser, turret, stamping, forming, robotic welding, engineering and the in-house "Green" powder coating painting system. Argon Industries manufactures products for industries such as high-end appliances, infrastructure repair and maintenance, defense contractors, point of purchase displays, HVAC and OEM equipment.
