High-speed Milling and EDM to be Shown at Amerimold

On display at Amerimold 2013 in booth 205, the GF AgieCharmilles FORM 20 sinker EDM provides a modern compact design.

On display at Amerimold 2013 in booth 205, the GF AgieCharmilles MIKRON HSM 200U LP is a 5-axis simultaneous milling machine for the machining of small, highly complex components.

At this year's Amerimold show, taking place June 12-13, in Rosemont, IL, GF AgieCharmilles will show its MIKRON HSM 200U LP (linear performance) milling machine and its FORM 20 sinker EDM in booth 205.

"The MIKRON HSM 200U LP offers speed, efficiency, precision and 5-axis simultaneous milling to the machining of small, highly complex components. Linear motor technology in the main machine axes and optimized direct-drive motors for the B and C axes result in high precision and part surface finishes as fine as Ra 0.05 µm. The machine's 50,000 RPM, 11.4 HP Step-Tec spindle also assists in providing excellent surface finish and part detail," said a company spokesperson.

"GF AgieCharmilles' FORM 20 has outstanding connectivity capability, overall enhanced performance and a modern compact design," said a company spokesperson. "The machine meets the cost-effective part production needs of manufacturing industries, including general mold and die."

The FORM 20 is available with the new, recently developed AC Form HMI (human machine interface) CNC that centers on user friendliness and intuitiveness to significantly shorten the learning curve for beginner EDM operators. The machine excels in burning deep ribs in such parts as mold cores.

"At the heart of the FORM 20 is GF AgieCharmilles' proprietary, high-end Intelligent Power Generator (IPG) with available IQ zero electrode wear technology," said a company spokesperson. "With every machine pulse, the 70-amp generator on the FORM 20 continuously optimizes the EDM process and reduces electrode wear/cost as well as provides uniform surface finishes. The machine reliably generates surface finishes of Ra 0.1 micron and down to 0.0007" radii."
