Blaser Swisslube Joins CCAM

The Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) has announced that Swiss company Blaser Swisslube has joined the collaborative research center. Blaser Swisslube is CCAM's 15th member and the second from Switzerland. Headquartered in Hasle-Ruegsau, Switzerland, and with a U.S. production facility in Goshen, NY, the company joins other international members from Germany, Japan, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States at CCAM to solve business and operational challenges facing advanced manufacturers.

"Advanced manufacturing often involves precision cutting of metal and other materials to form essential parts for sophisticated and critical machinery, such as fan blades for jet engines or breakers for mining operations," said a company spokesperson. "Blaser Swisslube's line of coolants, cutting oils and grinding oils ensures that the complex machines used to cut and fabricate manufacturing components do their jobs efficiently and successfully. The company's presence at CCAM, where members will have access to several high-precision cutting machines, brings decades of advanced manufacturing technique and expertise to the collaborative's research projects."

"Maximizing ROI on significant investments in tools and machinery is high on the list of every advanced manufacturer," said Dr. Michael Beffel, Interim President and Executive Director of CCAM. "Blaser Swisslube brings that expertise to the research table and we are thrilled to have the company's insight as member companies and universities ramp up projects."

"For more than 75 years we have been helping manufacturers stay a step ahead through improved equipment operations," said Marc Blaser, CEO at Blaser Swisslube. "CCAM's collaborative approach to advanced manufacturing challenges allows us to contribute, learn and keep our customers on the cutting edge."

Blaser Swisslube joins CCAM as a Tier 2 Member, granting it access to results of generic research conducted by members and a seat on CCAM's technical advisory committee, which sets research direction.

CCAM is a research-based collaboration between the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Virginia State University and manufacturing companies worldwide.
