New Generation of Tool Presetters
June 1, 2013
Elbo Controlli, presetting solutions distributed through Koma Precision, Inc., introduced its new generation of tool presetters. The newly designed Hathor Six and Sethy Six are tailored specifically to customer's requirements of a powerful tool measuring system.
The new Hathor Six (floor model) and Sethy Six (bench model) have an increased axis measuring range (600 mm / 23.62"); fixed target function in micrometric registration of X and Z axes; a single, high definition 15" TTF touch screen with improved viewing and functionality and available as an option, manual control of the C axis.
These new units feature Elbo Controlli's ground granite column and base, a spindle body assembled on spring roller cages and optical scales. The movement accuracy of both X and Z axes is guaranteed through the use of stable granite supporting surfaces. The thermal inertia of granite allows the machine to be placed directly in the shop. The precision spindle system is fully interchangeable and utilizes a one-piece cartridge - eliminating the need for adaptors and the errors associated with their use.
The presetters incorporate a double system of prismatic rails for X-axis movement with three double recirculating ball bearing sliding blocks and a monorail with one sliding block for the Z axis. Axis movements include manual rapid and manual micrometric adjustments.
The camera system includes a single C-MOS image sensor that manages both the inspection and measurement functions using a double lighting source. This system is combined with a Linux based TFT touch screen, which provides full operator control and selection of options and functions via an intuitive menu system - these new electronics provide operational and functional simplicity that is second to none.
Also included with Sethy Six and Hathor Six model is Elbo Controlli's ToolingUp software package. Working via DNC system, ToolingUp converts measured tool data into CNC code for direct loading into the machine controller and associated tool offset pages. All upgrades to the software package are available for download for free. The units utilize Linux operating system for the integrated management of the functions of measurement / inspection tools, machine origins and toolsets.
