Customizable Robot Cell User Interface

"PC-HMI is designed to be a cost-effective PC-based robot cell user interface that allows users to easily configure and customize screens and information without expensive development software," said a company spokesperson. A simple text editable file is used for screen configuration and customization. Using a PC as the HMI permits applications to interact with common information technologies.

The industrial-grade PC features an IP-34 rated enclosure and a 15" color touch screen for use in manufacturing environments. "Utilizing the latest advancements in single-board PCs, solid-state data storage and high temperature rated components, the PC-HMI ensures longevity," said the spokesperson. "Fan free convection cooling eliminates the need for air circulation and filters requiring maintenance, and Windows Embedded XP operating system provides software stability and compatibility. PC-HMI allows intranet/internet connectivity.

"PC-HMI makes it easy for personnel to update/program the data they desire on the screen. MotoCom is used to communicate a high level of information between the robot and display so users can see I/O status and names, jobs executing in real time, set and actual weld data (including travel speed) and alarm history. External applications or tools loaded on the HMI can also be accessed, and a welder screen shows power source-related status. Users can view local or networked manuals, drawings or reports. For applications requiring data storage, a separate 4 GB partition of the compact flash is available."

Each of the included screens can be customized by adding, deleting, reorganizing or changing graphics. In addition to changing standard screens, custom screens can be added to provide additional information regarding tooling or other interfaced machinery.
