5-axis Precision Machining
August 24, 2016Hermle AG will be exhibiting its new C 250 dynamic CNC machining center at the 2016 International Manufacturing and Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago. The C 250 offers a cost-effective way for manufacturing professionals to enter the 5-axis category, while delivering precision and reliability required at the most demanding level of machining.
“As part of our ongoing effort to bring precision manufacturing back to the Midwestern United States, we are incredibly excited to introduce the C 250 to an international audience of machining professionals at this year’s IMTS,” said Manuel Merkt, Vice President of Operations. “We are confident that people will be impressed by the stunning precision and reliability they have come to expect from Hermle, at a price that will surprise them.”
In total, Hermle will have five machines on display including the C 250, the C 42 and the C 52 UMT. “The Hermle C 52 has been in the spotlight recently, as it was revealed to be a key installation in Area 404, the new hardware lab at Facebook’s corporate headquarters in Menlo Park, CA,” said a company spokesperson. “The new lab, which has been in the works for quite some time, will be used for ‘moonshot’ research and development projects like self-driven aircraft and Oculus virtual-reality headsets.”
“For some manufacturers, initial entry into this space can be intimidating, but the benefits of stepping up to 5-axis are tremendous,” Vice President of Sales & Engineering, Gunther Schnitzer said. “We help our customers achieve optimized results through comprehensive process consulting and project management.”
Elsewhere at the show, Hermle partners will also be featuring Hermle machines at their own respective booths; Haimer, a top-class German toolholder manufacturer, will feature the C 12 at booth W-1452, and Emuge Corporation, a respected manufacturer of precision cutting tools, will showcase the C 22 at booth W-1536.
The C 250 is built for the most challenging 5-axis/5-side machining applications. The C 250 will include but not be limited to these options: a Heidenhain TNC 640 control unit, a tool magazine with 30 tool pockets, an 18,000 RPM HSK-A63 spindle, an NC swiveling rotary table (450 x 360 mm), an ICS 40bar, a Renishaw or Heidenhain touch probe and a Blum laser.
