Hanwha Machinery has announced its newest machine model, the XD42. This larger capacity Swiss-type machine will provide customers looking to produce larger diameter Swiss parts the ability to do so. "The 42 mm (1.653") with a guide bushing offers an additional alternative to customers producing parts too large for a standard Swiss machine, especially those in the automotive industry," said a company spokesperson.
Features of the new XD42 include stable structure of bearings and toggles on main and sub-spindles, strong chucking force by a large hydraulic cylinder as well as a single piece casting bed design.
"The concept of a horizontal gang-type design offers a stable structured base and easy chip removal," said the spokesperson. Cross and back tools are available with ER20M as an option with a powerful motor (cross drill: 2.2 kW, 8 Nm / back drill: 1 kW, 3 Nm). Gears, not belts, power the off-center drill next to the sub-spindle.
The XD42 offers the option of a bar lifting unit for the automatic loading and replenishing of heavy bar stock. It is equipped with two anti-vibration units that are designed for the V-block (hybrid static block) to guide the bar stock efficiently. Other options include specialized tools, a chip conveyor with a larger coolant tank that is compatible with XD38II model.
Hanwha Machinery America has also introduced the latest enhanced models of the XD series, the XD12III and XD16III. These new Type III models provide cost-effective parts processing for customers who make 1/2" and 5/8" parts.
The XD12III, with the new FANUC 0i-TF control, is designed for parts that are 1/2" and smaller, such as those in the electronics industry.
Features of the improved XD12III include: long stroke and whole axis feeds with a spacious area for back drilling; high-speed main spindle with special bearings; and optimized structure of the chucking and headstock system for accurate processing. Moreover, for enhanced machine performance, a rigid tool post is designed for ease of drilling, turning and processing quality production parts.
As options, the model is available with four modular type cross drills, one-axis gun drill and a sub-spindle. One cross drill with ER11 is driven at a maximum 9,000 RPM.
