Hyundai WIA Machine America has introduced new improved versions of its F500 and F650 vertical machining centers (VMCs), the F500 Plus and F650 Plus. These updated machines feature expanded tool magazines and new roller linear motion guideways in all axes for enhanced speed and versatility.
The guideway systems are rigid and allow the smooth, consistent high-speed movement of significant load capacities up to 1,764 lbs. For added stability and rigidity on a variety of part and cut types, the intermediate table, table and column are mounted to guide packs that move along each axis and rail. These packs are preloaded, meaning they attach to the rails with consistent force, regardless of the mounted component. The packs ensure the process will not deviate from the programmed cut to provide the desired tight tolerance or fine finish.
The guideways work in concert with a high-precision, high torque BIG PLUS 40-taper spindle that has a maximum RPM of 10,000 in a construction that is designed to eliminate thermal growth during heavy-duty cutting. Powered by a 25/20 HP motor, the headstock uses ultra-precision class angular contact bearings for fast acceleration and deceleration. Both machines are also capable of rigid tapping, eliminating the need for special tooling.
A 30-tool magazine pairs with a double-arm automatic tool changer for fast and reliable tool changes that help reduce cycle times. The F500 Plus and F650 Plus both come with the latest FANUC 0i control and a wide range of supporting software.
