Machining Technology at Pacific Coast Machine Tool Expo

Haas Factory Outlet - A division of Selway Machine Tool Co will feature a variety of machining technology in booth 537 at the Pacific Coast Machine Tool Expo, held September 23 - 24 at the Santa Clara Convention Center.

Haas demonstrations will include the UMC-750ss, DM-1, ST10-Y and a rotary table display:

  • UMC-750ss 5-axis, high-speed machining center loaded with a 40 taper 15k RPM spindle, 40+1 side mount tool changer and 500 mm rotary table
  • DM-1 drill/mill center with 40 taper 15k RPM spindle, 18+1 side-mount tool changer and work envelope of 20" x 16" x 15.5"
  • ST-10Y compact CNC lathe with Y-axis, 15 HP vector drive, 6,000 RPM spindle, 12-station hybrid turret and high torque tooling with C-axis
  • TR-160 tilting 5th axis rotary table
  • TR-160 8.3" servo rotary table with pneumatic brake.

"We selected three machines we felt best suited the Bay Area customer base, where both small footprint and speed matter," said Eric Benson, Selway Machine Tool Co. "We invite customers and Haas fans to stop by our booth for a live cutting sampling of American made machine tools."

Selway will also be showcasing in booth 637 high-speed machining from Matsuura, Eurotech Rapido, Mitutoyo with 5-axis Renishaw probe and a FANUC robot cell powered by Trinity automation:

  • Matsuura's MX-850 5-axis, high-speed machining center is loaded with a 20k spindle, 60-tool chain magazine and a 500 mm rotary table with two side flat tables. The programming by Selway/Autodesk will produce a finished part every time the door opens.
  • Mitutoyo CRYSTA-Apex EX will feature a 5-axis touch trigger PH20 Renishaw probe and feature high-speed scanning up to 500 mm/s and scanning at 4,000 points per second max.
  • Eurotech's Rapido is a twin spindle/twin turret turning center with two Y and C axes. It will feature a 36 mm bar capacity, programmable automatic parts catcher and two 7,000 RPM spindles with simultaneous follow up machining capabilities.
  • The FANUC LR Mate robot will be showcasing cageless automated part load and removal between two automatic chucks.

"We have great high-speed machining demos prepared on all machines," said Pat Hayes, VP of Sales, Selway Machine Tool Co.

Representatives from Selway Machine Tool Co, Matsuura, Eurotech, and Autodesk will be onsite at booth 637 to discuss manufacturing needs with attendees.
