Mid-Maine Technical Center Renews NIMS Accreditation
September 1, 2015
Maintaining an industry standard inside the classroom is no easy task, but the Precision Machining Program at Mid-Maine Technical Center has done just that and officially renewed its accreditation through NIMS. In receiving this national recognition, the tech center and its faculty demonstrate their continued commitment to excellence in metalworking training within the state of Maine and for the greater good of the U.S. manufacturing industry.
Since first becoming accredited in 2009, the Precision Machining Program continues to offer national industry credentials to students. Instructor Danny McLeod has led by example, having earned several NIMS credentials of his own.
The renewal review process included a comprehensive self-evaluation that was validated through a rigorous on-site evaluation led by NIMS Evaluator Marty Arsenault of Howard Tool. Arsenault issued above-average ratings in all areas of the evaluation and, in combination with the program's self-evaluation and other criteria, NIMS Director of Accreditation Catherine Ross issued the renewal.
This accreditation is based on NIMS Machining Level I National Standards, with an emphasis in:
- Job Planning, Benchwork and Layout
- Measurement, Materials and Safety
- Milling I
- Turning: Turning Between Centers I.
