New Automated Turning Cell at LMC's Manufacturing Facility
September 1, 2015
As part of its continuing expansion, LMC Workholding recently added a new automated turning cell to its list of production equipment at its Logansport, IN, manufacturing facility.
The new Mazak MY350 and FANUC Automation R2000-265kg turning cell and robot are used to load parts weighing up to 350 lbs. into the CNC lathe for machining, remove the parts and place completed parts back on the loading pallet. This was a job previously done manually. Now, one operator has the ability to run up to four lathes with the help of the robot. Additionally, the machine will run lights out when available. Working together, the robot and the lathe have the capacity to run over 5,000 parts per month.
To increase the parts production even further, LMC plans to install another turning center soon, which will also work with the existing FANUC robot.
Founded in 1916, LMC Workholding offers engineering, manufacturing and a full range of products, including high quality chucks and cylinders along with special workholding devices.
