FormControl and Radio Probes for Part Inspection
April 1, 2015
Blum-Novotest, Inc., will feature its FormControl Software and radio wave version of its line of part probes, tool probes and bore gauges.
FormControl comparative software lets operators check part dimensions and specific features and compare them to nominal values from a 3D file such as IGES or STEP. It does this by allowing the operator to drive the machining center via PC, creating access to advanced inspection functions with "point and click" operation and comprehensive reporting tools.
BLUM's new line of radio probes is meant for situations where normal line-of-sight infrared transmission is not possible, such as on 5-axis machines, large gantries or when probing within deep cavities. "With sub-micron, non-lobing repeatability, single-touch measurement and measuring speeds five times faster than conventional probes, operators are able to inspect part features or set workpieces in a fraction of the time they had in the past," said a company spokesperson. "Patent pending BRC radio technology transmits a signal over a wide range within a 2.4 Ghz bandwidth, eliminating chance of interference and keeping the probe in constant communication with the machine.
"FormControl, coupled with a BLUM radio probe, provides the ideal inspection solution for any part that would become problematic to re-work once removed from its fixture."
