5-Axis EDM Drilling Machines to be on Display

Current EDM Model CT500-5A

Current EDM Model CT400

The Current EDM Model CT500-5A and Model CT400 EDM Drilling Machines will be on display at EASTEC in booth 1257.

The EDM Model CT500-5A is a production EDM drilling system with XYZ travels of 22" x 14" x 16". The CT500 machine is designed to drill high production holes in complex turbine components, medical parts and for general working applications.

The Model CT500-5A incorporates a choice of two NIKKEN AB table configurations, fully integrated with the Siemens 840Dsl that positions the part for accurately drilling angled holes. Its ergonomic design and palletized tooling allows for easy loading of the workpiece. Automated electrode and guide changing can be included as well as a complete Low-Maintenance Di system.

Newly added/enhanced features include:

  • Enhanced programmable servo control keeps very small diameter electrodes from flexing, even when drilling with long 0.012" diameter electrodes. Expect faster drilling times and highly improved accuracy detecting electrode break-through.
  • Upgraded power supply technologies for drilling with reduced electrode side-wear at the tip of the electrode, resulting in better hole diameter and depth consistency, faster drilling speed and more holes per electrode.

The Current EDM Model CT400 EDM Drilling Machine is a production EDM drill for use in the general metalworking, medical, aero engine and power-gen industries. The CT400 features a choice of either the Siemens M Control or the Siemens 840D control. Depending on the application, a 25 Peak-Amp (0.0012" ~0.070" dia. electrode range) or a 57 Peak-Amp (0.004" ~0.256" dia. electrode range) power supply is available. XYZ travels are 16" x 12" x 16" with a table capacity of 1,000 lbs.

The base Siemens M Control will reliably handle the toughest EDM drilling applications. Features include programmable power settings, USB port, referencing cycles, electrode dressing and Ethernet connectivity to simplify complex applications. Multi-level program lockout security protects programs from unwanted changes. Precision ball screws and high-torque Siemens motors consistently provide precise positioning. The CT400 can be configured with optional AB tables for 5-axis capability and add a 24-station tool changer to automate the job.

"All Current EDM drilling machines are warrantied for one year, including on-site startup and training, all backed up by seasoned service, applications and engineering staff that is dedicated to EDM Drilling," said the company spokesperson.
