IMTS 2024-The International Manufacturing Technology Show-offers an opportunity to discover unexpected solutions at more than 1,500 booths, including more than 65 first-time exhibitors offering innovative solutions. Examples include haptic feedback to improve remote robot operation and digital training, quality control software that can manage millions of data points, additive manufacturing (AM) powders and gases, business services to address labor issues via an app and many more. IMTS 2024 runs September 9-14 at McCormick Place in Chicago. IMTS is hosted in even-numbered years. IMTS 2022 attracted 86,307 registrants.
"What makes IMTS 2024 extraordinary is that every aisle offers new approaches to improve productivity, lower costs and solve problems," said Peter R. Eelman, Chief Experience Officer at AMT-The Association For Manufacturing Technology, which owns and produces IMTS. "One of the comments I hear every show is, `We would have never learned about this solution if we had not come to IMTS.' Solutions range from foundational products to technologies that transform your business operation."
Matt Gawlik, President of 3D Graphite & Machining in Schaumburg, IL, has attended every show since 1992.
"We found a cutting tool that decreased run time by 300%, but my best bang for the buck at IMTS has always been on the technology side. Specifically, solutions in the Software Sector for streamlining all of our processes, from ERP to design to CAM," Gawlik said. "One thing to check out at IMTS 2024 is application programming interfaces (APIs) and how their utilization allows software solutions to talk to each other. One of the problems right now is that there are so many different things happening at once that it is hard to collect data and present it in a usable way."
Benjamin Moses, Director of Technology at AMT, noted that visitors come to the show to connect with existing suppliers and see new product launches from major brands.
"There are always hidden gems at IMTS," Moses said. "These often come from startups exhibiting for the first time and established companies trying to reach new markets in the manufacturing sector."
Conference Registration and Visitor Housing Now Open
Registration is now open for more than 10 conferences at IMTS 2024, an enhanced conference format, and new IMTS Elevate programs for IMTS 2024. The conference schedule runs from Monday, September 9, to Thursday, September 12, and all conferences are co-located with IMTS at Chicago's McCormick Place. IMTS also announced that visitor housing registration is now open.
"We organized the conferences to fit into focused blocks of time that give visitor and exhibitor personnel more schedule flexibility," says Bonnie Gurney, Vice President-Strategic Content and Partnerships for AMT. "Topics in The IMTS 2024 Conference, produced by AMT and GIE Media, cover the technologies exhibited on the floor, while the IMTS Elevate programs bring to the forefront issues important to the manufacturing community."
Gurney noted that all conferences require registration. Registering in advance provides a discount and includes full access to the IMTS exhibit halls.
New events in 2024 include IMTS Elevate LATAM, a half-day conference presented in Spanish for the Spanish-speaking manufacturing technology community. The conference focuses on transformative technologies, sustainable manufacturing and regional trends in the high-growth markets of Mexico, Latin America and Spain.
Returning for a second show are the IMTS Elevate: Women Make Manufacturing Move (WMMM) events, which drew in more than 900 registrants at IMTS 2022. The conference celebrates women's impact in manufacturing. IMTS Elevate WMMM and IMTS Elevate LATAM include breakfast and evening events for schedule flexibility.
Recognizing the critical role of job shops in the manufacturing industry, IMTS 2024 will feature three IMTS Elevate Job Shops workshops powered by AMT, Modern Machine Shop and Additive Manufacturing Media. Workshop topics include "Make Your Shop a Top Shop," "The Shop of Our Future," and "3D Printing for Job Shops." Registration for any of these events also includes access to the IMTS Elevate Job Shops reception on Tuesday, September 10.
The Automated Shop Conference, brought to IMTS by Gardner Business Media, focuses on introducing small- and medium-sized machining operations to new product technologies, process innovations and business strategies. Shops receive insight on how to implement lights-out machining and automated production with confidence. Gardner Business Media will also be launching the "Succeeding with Powder Bed Fusion Workshop," which will cover materials, safety, part design, production workflow and differences between laser and electron beam metal powder bed fusion systems.
The IMTS Supply Chain Forum, co-presented by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, will deliver direct strategies and proven techniques for leaner, more agile, more profitable supply chains. The IMTS Investor Forum connects investment professionals with advanced manufacturing experts so they can learn firsthand about the industry from startup companies and industry veterans.
The IMTS 2024 Conference provides attendees with tangible insights and solutions to take back to company operations for immediate implementation: improving productivity and quality, Industry 4.0 and the Industrial Internet of Things, overall equipment effectiveness and developing a workforce. Other popular and long-standing conferences at IMTS include the Parts Cleaning Conference, presented by GBM, and the Industrial Laser Conference, presented by the Laser Institute of America.
"The power of participating in IMTS 2024 includes attending to gather more information, grow professionally and make connections critical for moving your business forward," said Gurney. "At IMTS, any business problem or manufacturing challenge you need to solve is only one or two connections away. By participating in conferences and events with like-minded people, you are placing yourself in a position for success."
Housing Now Open
Visitor housing registration for IMTS 2024 is now open. Housing is managed by Global Housing Solutions (GHS), powered by AMT.
"Working with GHS makes securing a hotel room simple, and it is free," said Marc Bronitt, director of GHS. "We provide visitors with a single source for booking their stay, avoiding the delays and miscommunication that can occur when booking through the hotel or using third parties."
GHS contracts with more than 90 Chicago-area hotels to offer benefits for visitor housing that include guaranteed rooms, more accurate booking and a free shuttle between these hotels and McCormick Place.
"Given the demand on hotels created by the size of IMTS, booking housing early is essential for ensuring your preferred hotels or location within Chicago," said Bronitt.
