Performance and Safety in Human-Robot Interactions
December 1, 2019
Stäubli's new TX2touch 6-axis generation, which features the SIL3/PLe safety level, now allows direct human-robot interaction and integration into Industry 4.0 environments.
"The new TX2 line, featuring the CS9 controller, illustrates the evolution of man-machine cooperation, which is entering a new era," said a company spokesperson. "In the past, the better and faster a robot was, the more it needed to be isolated from its operator because the robot was considered dangerous. By gradually removing barriers and making contact with robots possible, Stäubli's technology has resulted in true collaboration."
Stäubli's Safe Speed system detects the presence of a human and immediately slows the robot's movement, while the Safe Stop feature halts the robot if the situation requires, without having to reinitialize start-up. These redundant sensor systems allow humans and machines to share the same space safely and securely. The TX2touch membrane physically "feels" an operator's contact, triggering a halt when touched. The goal of these technologies is to allow performance and safety to coexist and to restore the operator's freedom.
TX2touch is compatible with all production devices and ERP. It features all standardized communications protocols, including real-time Ethernet, and is available and configurable via a unique software suit. Encapsulated Ethernet Cat5e allows for multi-gripper, camera and sensors, and IP67 EtherCat I/O modules are available for modular connections to peripheral devices.
Stäubli TX2touch robots feature a fully enclosed design and meet cleanroom standards.
