High Production Manufacturing at EMO
September 1, 2019
JTEKT Toyoda Americas Corporation will showcase its FH500J high-speed horizontal machining center (HMC) and Takisawa Taiwan NEX-105 horizontal linear turning center this September at EMO Hannover 2019.
"Toyoda meets the growing demand for producing components with high metal removal rates, short cycle times and good surface finishes," said a company spokesperson. Toyoda's FH500J HMC is designed for speed and production reliability - featuring a 15,000 RPM, 50 HP (37 kW), 303 Nm (223 ft-lbs.) high acceleration spindle. This 40-taper spindle is designed with four ceramic bearings at the front of the spindle for increased rigidity and reduced vibration. Its patented hydraulic preload system brings the spindle up to 10,000 RPM less than one second without spindle warm-up. This machine is equipped with a direct drive B-axis table featuring an index time (90°) of 0.5 seconds. The FH500J machining center - with the spindle design, preload system and high torque features - allows machine shops to take advantage of more aggressive machining and high volume machining in a compact footprint. "Less than 2% of FH500J spindles have needed replacement," said the spokesperson.
In alliance with Takisawa Taiwan, JTEKT Toyoda Americas will also be displaying the NEX-105 turning center. The NEX-105 is a compact solution capable of mass producing small complex parts, offering spindle speed up to 6,000 RPM and fast indexing capabilities on its linear roller bearing guideway. This 6" chuck size machine will be running live cutting demonstrations throughout the show, featuring a maximum swing of 15.7" (398 mm), a maximum turning diameter of 6.7" (170 mm) and a maximum turning diameter of 6.7" (170 mm).
