Is Friction Grinding You Down?
April 1, 2016
"Wear and tear on machine components costs businesses thousands of dollars every year in maintenance and replacement. Down time reduces productivity and wastes time and money. If only you could prevent resistance and friction from eroding critical components," said a company spokesperson. "The SlicKoat Ultralube process can increase the life of tooling by at least 40%."
SlicKoat will be exhibited at the Tulsa Industrial & Tool Show.
SlicKoat dry lubricant process can be used to prevent wear and tear from:
- Friction
- Resistance
- Wear
- Galling and seizure.
The SlicKoat Ultralube process molecularly bonds tungsten disulfide WS2 dry film lubricant to metal, plastic, rubber and other man-made components. The process adds a mere 0.5 micron (.000020") thickness to the component. This durable, long-lasting lubricant is designed to bond to the substrate without changing the specifications or integrity of the component.
"SlicKoat processing means that it is possible to extend the life of components, reduce friction, reduce the amount of dust generated by drilling or cutting and potentially reduce the power needed to run machines. In short, SlicKoat equals efficiency, continuity, throughput and production. SlicKoat will not crack, flake, chip or peel unless the substrate fails," said the spokesperson.
"SlicKoat benefit is not strictly limited to machine tools. SlicKoat has been utilized to extend the life of any and all moving parts in engines and compressors due to its ability to reduce friction and its ability to withstand loads to 350,000 PSI and temperatures in excess of 1,000 °F. SlicKoat currently provides its coating services to companies within the oil and gas and aerospace industries where its friction reducing qualities have proven to extend the reliability and life cycle of coated parts," said the spokesperson.
