New Chiller Options Released

Active thermal management of laser systems plays an integral role in laser performance, long term stability and reliability. In addition to the custom cooling solutions often developed by Aspen Systems, Inc. engineers, three off-the-shelf options built for laser manufacturers, integrators and end users are available. The liquid chiller module, direct refrigerant cold plate system and a stand alone, turn-key chiller.

"Our core technology, the rotary compressor, was developed for the military as it is 10 times smaller in size than equivalent capacity compressors and durable with over 80,000 hours MTBF," said Glenn Deming, Vice President, Aspen Systems. "We are an OEM supplier for laser manufacturers and liquid chiller companies that need a compact, reliable cooling system."

The liquid chiller module is a complete cooling sub-system designed for users who need a small footprint to integrate directly into a laser or external housing and where the customer wants to implement their own controls. The direct refrigerant cold plate system is used where the cold plate is in direct contact with the heat producing source, e.g. laser diodes and offers high heat transfer rates with enhanced temperature control of less than 0.5 °C. All modules are customizable to optimize the active thermal management for a particular application.
