Plasma Cutting Electrodes
April 1, 2016
Hypertherm, a U.S. based manufacturer of plasma, laser and waterjet cutting systems, has introduced SilverPlus electrodes for its HySpeed HSD130 plasma cutting systems.
"Like all versions of Hypertherm's SilverPlus electrode, this electrode is proven in Hypertherm laboratory testing to last more than twice as long as a standard copper tipped electrode. In addition, the electrode delivers a consistent range 4 and 5 cut quality throughout its life," said a company spokesperson.
The electrodes, protected by patent, are created by fusing a solid silver tip on to a copper electrode base and then inserting a hafnium pin into the tip. "This serves to slow the electrode's wear rate as silver disperses heat better than copper," said the spokesperson. Hypertherm's electrodes also have a bond between the hafnium and silver for more consistent wear rates and deeper pit depths and are designed to ramp down errors and hard failures.
