High-Precision Machine for Heavy-Duty Mass Production
April 1, 2016
The cross rail is designed with three rigid 55mm linear roller ways that support the load in vertical and horizontal directions.
Chevalier has introduced its FVM-3016DCL II Series double-column bridge machine.
The machine's table size is 122" x 57" and has a table load of 17,600 lbs. XYZ travels are 122" x 63" x 30.7". The maximum part height under the spindle is 38.6". The distance between columns is 70.9".
The heavily ribbed Meehanite cast iron base provides rigidity and stability. The oversized column and box-type beam construction provide support and damping characteristics. The cross rail features three rigid 55 mm linear roller ways that support the load in both vertical and horizontal directions. The entire X-travel of the table is fully supported by 12 pieces of sliding blocks, eliminating overhang issues. The heavy-duty roller guideways on the X- and Y-axis are designed to provide enhanced speed and acceleration while preventing any stick-slip problems. The Z-axis uses two 80 mm box way structures for enhanced rigidity and cutting support.
"The spindle motor, ball screw and double counter-balancing cylinders are all located at the optimum positions to avoid unequal torque while helping to ensure high structural accuracy," said a company spokesperson. A forced circulation cooling and lubrication system is applied to the spindle and bearings and is designed to reduce thermal strain on the spindle and extend the life span.
"The FVM-3016DCL II Series features a 6,000 RPM two-speed gearbox spindle. This high/low gear spindle provides ample output power and a high-speed range for fine-cutting results," said Herbert Hou, Chevalier's National Sales Manager. The 35 HP motor with a two-speed gearbox can generate 719 NM (530 ft-lbs.) of torque. For high-speed finishes, a 10,000 RPM direct coupling spindle is available.
The FANUC 0i-MF control is standard and features a 10.4" TFT LCD display. The 0i-MF also comes with the AICC high-speed machining contour control. It features smooth 3-D interpolation and an optional 200-block look-ahead function. An Ethernet connection, front memory card slot and a large data-server memory capacity are standard.
