April 1, 2016
Walter point drill insert for cast iron machining.
Walter's new P6005-WKK45C point drill insert is designed for the drilling of cast materials (ISO K) and other materials. "The insert features a high-performance geometry for enhanced productivity in cast iron materials, and 110° prismatic seat for minimal run-out and stable positioning," said a company spokesperson. "Its chamfered corners enhance stability in abrasive conditions and improve resistance to wear."
The P6005-WKK45C point drill insert features a high-performance coating specially developed for increasing wear resistance with cast materials. "This thicker coating also has enhanced toughness due to its multi-layer structure," said the spokesperson. "This provides alternate layers of hard wear, heat and abrasive resistance. The tough material also improves shock resistance.
"The inserts, which are color coded for easy selection and wear detection, have shown tool life increases of up to 100% in field tests, increased process reliability and improved machine utilization due to reduced tool change."
