Free Technical Seminar on Stainless Steel Scheduled for Sept. 15
September 15, 2015Penn Stainless Products will present a free technical seminar on stainless steels featuring Hira "Dr. Metals" Ahluwalia, Ph.D., as part of the company's Stainless Steel University. "The seminar will feature in-depth tutorials on how to get the best out of stainless steel, the science behind stainless steel, the impact of corrosion on society, and high temperature properties," said a company spokesperson.
"Stainless steel surfaces should be clean, smooth and free from heavy surface oxides and contamination to provide optimum performance," continued the spokesperson. "During fabrication, the surface can alter and degrade corrosion resistance properties. Fabrication can contaminate the surface with free iron and other deposits, damage the passive film through chromium depletion and damage the surface mechanically. After fabrication, it is essential to restore the properties by appropriate techniques. Participants will learn simple techniques to reduce the risk of corrosion during the fabrication process."
The event will be held at the Pittsburgh Marriott North, Cranberry Township, in Mercer County, PA, on Sept. 15 beginning at 9:00 AM (registration opens at 8:00 AM). Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Tickets may be ordered on the Penn Stainless website at www.pennstainless.com/ssuniversity. Seating is limited to 50 people.
