Multitasking Innovations on Display

Large capacity multitasking machines to be demonstrated by Select Machining Technologies in booth 339100: (l-r) Soraluce SAD40, Geminis GT5i, Momentum MVL-15iM-SR, Ibarmia THC12

High-volume production multitasking technology to be exhibited by Select Production Technologies in booth 339100: (l-r) Famar Tandem 260, Fausto Marinello FM23

Advanced manufacturing technology from global brands will come together in Select Manufacturing Technologies' booth 339100.

Visitors to the booth located along the front row of the metalcutting pavilion can expect to see large-capacity multitasking machines from Soraluce, Geminis, Ibarmia and Momentum, each highly configurable to meet the specific needs of manufacturers working with large, complex components. Additionally, Famar and Fausto Marinello (of Famar Group) will showcase automated multitasking machining systems engineered for high-volume, precision applications.

Soraluce SAD40

The all-new Soraluce SAD40 is a fixed-table, traveling column multitasking machine offering generous 157" x 47" x 59" (XYZ) travels, a built-in 1-meter rotary table and a stepless universal spindle head. As part of Soraluce's new Performance Line, the SAD40 features an inline spindle delivering 43 HP and 450 ft-lbs. of torque for efficient metal removal.

At IMTS, the SAD40 will demonstrate Soraluce patented chatter-eliminating technologies, DAS+ (Dynamic Active Stabilizer) and DWS (Dynamic Workpiece Stabilizer), as well as Adaptive Control, with live cutting on two workpieces."

Geminis GT5i

The Geminis GT5i heavy-duty flatbed lathe coming to IMTS features a 6-meter (236") long bed, 55.1" swing over the guideways, 236.22" distance between centers with the capacity to hold workpieces up to 17,600 lbs. between centers. The GT5i, the smallest in the GTi range, can be configured with a wide range of multitasking accessories for performing turning, milling, boring and grinding operations on large cylindrical parts.

Ibarmia THC12

An Ibarmia THC12 5-axis universal multitasking machining center with twin 39.37" diameter pallets will be demonstrating the ability to machine large diameter and prismatic parts with an aerospace engine housing set up inside the work area, while a spindle head casting (for an Ibarmia Z-Series) is set up in the loading station. The THC12 can swing up to 49.21" for turning operations and offers 47.24" x 51.18" x 39.37" (XYZ) travels. A 112 HP, 12,000 RPM main spindle delivering 147 ft-lbs. of torque delivers high metal removal performance.

Momentum MVL-15iM SR

The Momentum MVL-15iM SR heavy-duty vertical turning lathe, designed with a robust full-wrap column construction, will be premiering an all-new Super Ram, which offers a new level of flexibility when it comes to tooling. The large capacity VTL offers a generous 62.99" of swing, cross rail travel of -32.28" to 39.37" and a load capacity of up to 17,637 lbs.

Famar Tandem 260

The Famar Tandem 260 is a twin (inverted) spindle multitasking turning center designed for high-volume production, with 15.75" max. swing diameter, 9.84" max. turning diameter, 9.45" max. turning length, and twin 41.6 HP spindles. Automation is built in with an integrated pallet conveyor and twin inverted spindles to load and unload parts. Like all Famar turning centers, the Tandem is engineered for seamless integration into full production cells.

Fausto Marinello FM23

The Fausto Marinello FM23 is a twin-spindle 5-axis HMC featuring 13" x 19.7" x 15.75" (XYZ) travels, full 4th and 5th axis, twin 65.7 HP spindles and a compact footprint for high-volume production of complex parts.

"What binds these six brands is the exceptional level of support provided by Select Manufacturing Technologies and its network of industry-leading distributors," said a company spokesperson. "By combining cutting-edge technology with support from America's most trusted and knowledgeable full-service distribution channel, manufacturers will find the optimal solutions for their biggest machining challenges."
