Flexible Air Gauges for ID and OD

"Pneumatic size gages are known for their excellent repeatability and high accuracy-especially in harsh production environments," said a Jenoptik Automotive spokesperson. "However, these devices were dedicated to a single diameter. Multiple diameters meant requiring multiple air mandrels driving the cost up. With the new patented Hommel Etamic HE flexible air gauge, this flexibility has been created, making it a promising solution for many areas of application.
Measuring air nozzles are placed on precision tractable fingers, like a 6-jaw chuck. Up to two circuits and three levels are possible depending on the application. Changeover from one diameter to another is rapid and can be accomplished in under 5 minutes.
The gauge can measure shafts (pins or journals) with diameters ranging from 10 mm to 130 mm in the same air mandrel. The same base can also be configured for measuring bores, such as rings from 20 mm to 150 mm in diameter.
In addition, the gauge can be combined with a collaborative robot to provide a complete, flexible and automated solution.
