Metrology and Automated Wireless Data Collection Solutions

The L.S. Starrett Co. will be demonstrating the latest in quality control inspection technology at IMTS booth 135044. Supporting Industry 4.0, IoT and the Digital Factory, attendees can see, for the first time at a live major event, demonstrations of automated wireless measurement data capture and transmission from handheld wireless/electronic gauges via the new DataSure 4.0 wireless data collection system, or from vision systems and optical comparators via integrated software.

Among the solutions highlighted will be the latest optical comparators, multisensor vision systems and video based inspection and measurement systems, DataSure 4.0 that increases the accuracy and speed of data collection, and the latest precision wireless/electronic tools and gauges. Special custom gauge solutions and force testing systems as well as granite surface plates, gauge blocks and more will be showcased. The majority of products to be featured are made in the USA, a commitment that Starrett has continually held to throughout its history.

Metrology Systems Solutions

"The new customizable AVX, featuring an innovative dual optical system, combines the best features of vision and touch-probe inspection, and is designed to measure parts with a diverse range of features, sizes and geometries," said a company spokesperson.

The recently enhanced AVR300 Multi-Sensor Vision System, featuring the largest field of view (FOV) to date for Starrett and suited for repetitive measurements and automatic comparison to CAD files, will be demonstrated. Starrett will showcase its latest benchtop models with new MetLogix Mx200 Digital Readouts (DRO) that combine an intuitive user experience with current touchscreen conventions and a wide range of functionality. A horizontal digital video comparator will also be demonstrated, combining vision and optical comparator technology. For easy set-up and operation, video based inspection and measurement systems will also be in the booth.

Starrett will also discuss its force testing systems, highlighting the flexible architecture that enables the range of Starrett force and material testing software programs to be compatible with its different test frames. The Starrett FMS-5000 single-column force testing system with L3 software for high-volume production and quality control testing will be demonstrated.

Starrett will also be displaying a broad range of wireless, electronic and mechanical precision measuring tools, and will be debuting its new, enhanced full-featured 2900 Series Digital Indicators, which are now available in wireless models, rechargeable battery and a new 4" range. Models feature true absolute sensor technology that minimizes data loss, glass scales, +/- .00005" accuracy and IP67 protection. The latest electronic and wireless micrometers, bore gauges, calipers and height gauges will also be demonstrated, supporting Industry 4.0 initiatives via DataSure wireless data acquisition.

Rounding out the range of measuring solutions will be Starrett Tru-Stone engineered granite metrology bases featuring the new Superior Red air bearing/solid machine foundation base, gauge blocks, surface roughness testers and special gauging capabilities. Attendees are invited to bring their gauging and metrology challenges to the booth where Starrett engineers can provide technical support and guidance on pursuing customized solutions when conventional solutions will not suffice.

Starrett will be making a presentation at the IMTS Conference Sessions on "Optical Comparators vs. Multi-Sensor Vision Systems: Practical Considerations for Choosing the Right Metrology System." The presentation by Greg Maisch, Engineering Manager, Starrett Metrology Division, will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 10 AM to 10:55 AM in room W194-A at McCormick Place.
