The Giddings & Lewis horizontal machining center (HMC) 1250 with integrated Liné Machines 5-Axis Tilt Head offers adaptable configurations for a wide range of applications.
"From a 27,000 RPM HSK63 spindle for high-speed machining of aluminum, to a 15,000 RPM HSK100 spindle for the more general-purpose end user requiring machining of hard and soft materials, this combination has the dexterity to machine anything," said a company spokesperson. "The most recent build was for a customer who chose the HSK100 spindle, which was best suited for their needs in cutting steel and aluminum. It is also available in options for machining titanium as well as composites."
"This combination brings together the Liné Machines' high-speed tilt head technology used in their reliable and high-performance gantry machines, and the dependable and consistent Giddings & Lewis HMC the industry has come to expect," added the spokesperson.
This machine build offers X-axis travel of 2,100 mm (82.7"); Z-axis column travel 2,350 mm (92.5"); tilt spindle; Y-axis headstock travel-tilt spindle 1,800 mm (70.9"); A-axis (spindle tilt) travel ±120°; and built-in contouring rotary table with programmable mechanical clamp, index positions 360,000 in .001° increments; and rotary B-axis feed 0-6 RPM.
Also included is an automatic chain type tool changer with 120 tool pockets and max. tool weight of 25 kg (55.1 lbs.), process monitoring and probing, high pressure coolant system along with basic components such as dual chip conveyors and full enclosure mist collection.
"Almost every aspect of this machine is configurable to suit the application," said the spokesperson.
