Prolonged Tool Life Through Strategic Partnership

Precision Punch & Tooling's strategic partnership with Advanced Coating Service (ACS) in Rochester, NY, has demonstrated noticeably prolonged tool life for its customers, according to a spokesperson.
"This partnership is designed to identify and develop surface treatment and coating solutions aimed at improving tool life for our customers' most demanding requirements in the metalforming, metal fabricating, stamping and specialty tooling market segments," said Kevin Gregoire, President, Precision Punch & Tooling. "Our process and development engineering department, along with ACS's R&D department, have identified methods to optimize the tool steel, heat treatment, surface finish and surface treatment/coating, resulting in significantly improved tool performance and increased tool life as compared to our competitors. As a result, the P-Wear series of surface treatments and coatings was the first achievement to come from this partnership. The most recent offering, P-Wear Optimum, has demonstrated increased wear resistance, improved resistance to corner breakdown and increased lubricity for reduced galling while providing increased hardness."
P-Wear Optimum is a proprietary quad coating with pre- and post-processing designed to enhance tool performance. Features and benefits include:
- Nano hardness: 3,600 HV
- Thickness: 2-3 microns
- .25 coefficient of friction.
