Advanced Developments for Process Monitoring and Added Flexibility
March 1, 2020
GEFERTEC recently showcased its latest 3D Metal Print (3DMP) innovations. "Based on proven arc welding technology using wire as the starting material, the 3DMP is faster and less expensive than powder-based 3D printing," said a company spokesperson. "Wire is also available at lower prices for most standard materials."
A new QM quality monitoring feature integrates molten bath control capability. This makes it possible to monitor, record and document the 3DMP welding process. All process parameters are recorded along with a video image for documentation. This level of integrated quality control verifies the stability of the manufacturing process and avoids costly inspections afterwards.
GEFERTEC also offers its arc40X generation of machines. Developed in cooperation with EMAG, the new machine layout is easier to maintain with many of the components housed in a separate enclosure. The arc40X machines also offer more flexibility in operation. For example, the table can be exchanged to convert from a 3-axis to a 5-axis version. A redesigned access door layout increases the space inside the arc40X although the machine's footprint is smaller.
