A Chucking System with No Air Tubes or Hoses

As a designer and manufacturer of precision workholding chucks, one of Northfield Precision Instrument Corporation's specialties is mounting air chucks to rotary tables and pallets. Northfield's engineering team has developed a new chucking system that requires no air tubes or hoses. This Pressure-Lok air chuck is charged with air by a special handle and holds air pressure for over two weeks. These chucks can be mounted to rotary tables with no through-hole, tombstones, pallets, transfer systems, etc. "The Pressure-Lok air chuck is useful in any machining operation that does not have an air tube near the machine," said a company spokesperson.

Northfield Precision Instrument designs and manufactures air chucks for any lathe, boring machine, grinder or VMC. Models include through-hole, high-speed and quick-change. Chucks are available in SAE or metric, in sizes from 3" (76 mm) to 18" (457 mm). According to the company, accuracies of 0.001" to 0.00001" (0.254 m) are guaranteed. Custom workholding chucks and jaws are available and free engineering assistance is offered.
