High Speed Milling of Small to Medium Workpieces
January 1, 2021
The Sodick UH430L High Speed Machining Center features Sodick's patented energy saving linear motors and linear scales with five-place decimal input and feedback. "This combination results in enhanced speed and accuracy with zero backlash," said a company spokesperson. "This leads to a machine tool that can handle the most complex 3D contours better than any other machine in its class."
Features of the UH430L:
- Patented energy saving linear motor and linear scales with five-place decimal input
- MotionExpert simulation software
- 40,000 RPM high speed spindle standard (50,000 and 60,000 RPM spindle options)
- Gate-type bridge structure keeps thermal displacement within 3 µm
- Large 15.1" display screen incorporating a resistance-sensitive touchscreen CNC
- Jig grinding option for increased precision
- Drilling function for high speed processing of small holes.
Other key features of the UH430L include acceleration rate of over 1G, increased stability and high degree of precision down to a nanometer. "Unlike the conventional method of separately executing rough and fine milling, this new technology combines both machining passes in one operating mode," said a company spokesperson. "The solution is a rapidly rotating and traversing of a small tool diameter that cuts to very fine depths."
